Sam Patch Tour Boat
NEWSLETTER
Sam Patch is a replica 19th-century packet boat offering historical, educational, and entertaining cruises on the Erie Canal from Schoen Place in the Village of Pittsford. Launched in 1991, Sam Patch was created to increase awareness of Rochester’s waterways through guided tours, student programs, and community events that celebrate the region’s cultural and industrial heritage. Each season, thousands of guests experience the Erie Canal aboard Sam Patch, honoring the legacy of its namesake — a 19th-century mill worker who became America’s first daredevil by leaping from waterfalls, including Rochester’s High Falls. Onboard amenities include beverages, snacks, and a restroom. Cruises depart daily during the season.
