AAM WWII C-47B SkytrainFarmingdale, NY (April 27, 2026) – American Airpower Museum, Long Island’s only flying military aviation museum, proudly presents an exciting program of Warbird Flights over the Memorial Day Weekend, May 23 & 24, 2026. (WE WILL BE CLOSED MONDAY)  AAM’s Warbirds historically performed in the annual Jones Beach Air Show, but that’s been moved to the July 4th weekend for a big celebration of America’s 250th Birthday.  AAM will be part of that July 4th extravaganza, in a patriotic flying salute to U.S. history!

However, in anticipation of our yearly Memorial Day Weekend air show, our pilots and staff received thousands of inquiries from fans and members, asking if AAM aircraft would be up on May 23 & 24.  In response, the museum is happy to announce that visitors can watch our fleet of fully restored and historic WWII fighting aircraft, as they perform exciting flight demonstrations that weekend!

Weather permitting, AAM will fly one or more of the planes in their hangar: a Douglas C-47B Skytrain Transport; Grumman TBM Avenger Torpedo Bomber; North American P-51D Mustang; Curtiss P-40M Warhawk “Flying Tiger;” North American AT-6D Texan Trainers, and red WACO UPF-7 Biplane.  Visitors can watch as these iconic aircraft start their engines, taxi to the runway and take to the sky over Long Island.  Bring your cameras and record amazing photos of our airplanes as they soar overhead.

In addition to seeing exciting flyovers, guests can take flights in one of these aircraft, the C-47B Skytrain, AT-6D Texans or our WACO Biplane, which provides a genuine open cockpit experience!  For costs and to book flights, please go to www.americanairpowermuseum.org and click “Flight Experience.  Or call (516) 531-3950, (631) 454-2039, or visit AAM’s Cockpit USA gift shop, Wednesday to Sunday, 10:30 am to 4:00 pm, Hangar 3, 1230 New Highway, Farmingdale, NY.  If you want to visit AAM just to watch the action and tour our exhibits, regular admission is $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and veterans, children ages 3-12, $12.  Enjoy our food offerings including ice cream, hot dogs, beverages, snacks and assorted refreshments!  So, hang out with your family and friends at Hangar 3, grab lunch and enjoy exciting aerial action all day long!  Support AAM and Help Keep ‘Em Flying!
