Senate House Growing Season EventRe-enactors, sheep-shearing demos, and more will run throughout the day starting at 11:00am

Kingston, NY – Spring is here and Senate House State Historic Site will be hosting its annual 18th Century Growing Season event on Saturday, May 16th from 11am - 4pm. This free event explores all things that grow, with hands on activities and demonstrations all day long.

Visitors can assist site staff in planting our 18th century inspired garden, and learn more about how vital kitchen and herb gardens were to 18th century Kingstonians, experience live sheep-shearing demonstrations by Fred DePaul, see re-enactors demonstrating camp life and trades, hear from bee-keepers on these insect’s vital role in pollination, see hearthside cooking demonstrations, and more.

The historic Senate House, home of the Van Gaasbeek family and the meeting place of the first New York State Senate will be open for tours as well. Admission to the historic house is $7.00 for adults, $5.00 for seniors, and children ages 12 and under are free. Outdoor activities are free for all.
