New York, NY – A Scholastic Book Fair walks into a bar…at a sideshow near the beach. Step right up and get ready to be shocked, amazed, informed, and amused! The Lady Aye (the “Fakir of Nonfiction”) and Coney Island USA are proud to present a day-long event celebrating the written word, particularly those dedicated to the odd and esoteric.
Modeled after the dizzying book fairs of our youth, the Coney Island Book Fair adds a fun, new twist to the thrill of the literary hunt. Visitors are invited to:
· Peruse and purchase goods from a curious collection of publishers, authors, and curators, each dedicated to the odd and the extraordinary in words, fashion, and art. This year’s scheduled vendors include Shocked & Amazed, Outside Talker Press, Morbid Anatomy, and others.
· Behold our brand-new Slideshow at the Sideshow. Talks and presentations that feature the finest fifteen-minute education on the eccentric and esoteric! Topics include everything from incubator babies to zombie bugs.
· Enjoy a beer and take in the wonderfully weird ambience at the world-famous Freak Bar.
Described by TimeOut New York in 2025 as “All things we love”; this year’s Fair aims to put even more free, freaky fun in the maxim “reading is fundamental.”
