Limited Engagement – June 17–20 at the Midtown International Theatre Festival
New York, N.Y. - Andrea Mezvinsky, who was crowned “America’s Funniest Mom” on The Oprah Winfrey Show, brings her new solo show, A Woman in Reverse, to the Midtown International Theatre Festival for a limited engagement June 17–20. The world premiere follows a divorced daughter navigating a single day as caregiver to her formidable mother while confronting the legacy of the women who raised her, including a flamboyant, mythic grandmother. Award-winning playwright and director Suzanne Bachner directs the comedy.
In A Woman in Reverse, a sharply funny and deeply moving solo performance, one woman retraces the emotional blueprint of the women who raised her over the course of a single day structured around breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Blending biting comedy with raw vulnerability, the show follows a divorced daughter balancing motherhood, memory, ambition, and survival as she confronts the seductive pull of generational patterns, she is desperate not to repeat. Haunted by a flamboyant grandmother who longed for a glamorous life and a mother shaped by disappointment, she begins to uncover what it means to stop living in reverse – and finally claim an identity of her own.
A Woman in Reverse runs on Wednesday, June 17 at 8:15pm, Thursday June 18 at 8:15pm, and Saturday, June 20 at 2:30pm. Running time: 60 minutes.

Andrea Mezvinsky (actor/writer) is an acclaimed actress, comedian, and writer whose entertainment career began as a magician’s assistant. She was crowned "America's Funniest Mom" on the Oprah Winfrey Show and recently took home Best Comedy at NOHO’s Fringe Festival for her solo show, "Sawed in Half." Andrea also wrote and starred in her real estate dramedy "Open House," currently in development, and earned "Best of the Boroughs" at the New York Underground Comedy Festival.
Her diverse credits span film, television, and theater, including the CBS movie "Open Admissions," comedy shorts for the Bravo Channel, indie films "Gratuitous Sex" and "Storm up the Sky," and appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show, Good Day New York, and the Hallmark Channel. On stage, she has performed in "Grandma Sylvia’s Funeral," "Socks Without Partners," and premiered the play "Audition." Suzanne Bachner (director) is an award-winning playwright and director, and the Artistic Director of JMTC Theatre. She is the director and developer of Bob Brader’s internationally acclaimed, award-winning solo shows, including Spitting In The Face Of The Devil, Smoker, and the forthcoming Kitty Daddy, which is premiering at 59E59’s East to Edinburgh 2026 next month, ahead of the Edinburgh Fringe.
