Fort Ticonderoga’s Memorial Day WeekendAmerica 250 REAL TIME REVOLUTION® brings the Continental Army of 1776 back to life — at the fort that held the line for a new nation

Ticonderoga, NY - This Memorial Day, Fort Ticonderoga invites visitors to do more than remember — to truly understand what was sacrificed. As part of the America 250 commemoration and Fort Ticonderoga’s groundbreaking REAL TIME REVOLUTION®, visitors will step inside the Continental Army of May 1776 — experiencing their weapons, rations, music, and daily struggle — and witness firsthand what those soldiers believed they were fighting and dying for. Living history programs and immersive demonstrations run throughout Saturday and Sunday, May 23–24, 2026, 9:30am–5pm.

“In May 1776, dozens of patriots who had seized Fort Ticonderoga the year before became thousands — an army trying to hold the line for liberty that was far from won,” said Stuart Lilie, Fort Ticonderoga Vice President of Public History. “This Memorial Day, we want visitors to feel the weight of that moment: the muskets, the cannon, the music, the labor, and the extraordinary belief that what they were doing mattered. That is what we owe them.”

A Commemorative Weekend:
In the spring of 1776, the Continental Army swelled from dozens to thousands at Ticonderoga — ordinary men who had left their families to hold the line for a revolution that was not yet won. This weekend honors their choice.

  • Sunday, May 24 — 11am Revolutionary Funeral Procession: Watch Continental Army soldiers conduct a solemn funeral procession for one of their own — a moving, historically grounded ceremony that places the true human cost of the Revolution at the center of the Memorial Day experience. This is not a reenactment. It is a remembrance.

Adventure Awaits Across 2,000 Acres:
Across 2,000 acres of historically significant landscape, the full weekend includes guided tours, narrated boat cruises, the King’s Garden, and museum exhibition spaces; historic trades programs; ongoing living history programs; thrilling weapons demonstrations; fife & drum performances; the Mount Defiance experience; and the Carillon Battlefield hiking trail.
