With championship golf, 2 world class restaurants, weddings, tennis, more
PGA Professional Perry Babcock adds title of Club Manager
Ceremonial first golf shots of the season May 8
Lake Placid, N.Y. – The Whiteface Club and Resort in Lake Placid concluded a successful winter season in late March. Now, with over a month of preparation under its belt, this iconic residential community, carved from the Adirondack pines, is set to open to the public for the spring, summer and fall seasons.
Mark Friday, May 8 on the calendar. This is when the Whiteface Club, sister property to the AAA Four Diamond Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, makes its return with championship golf, two restaurants, and its renowned wedding gardens set to host many couples who will officially start their new lives together on the Whiteface Club property. The beach and marina as well as tennis and pickleball courts will be available starting May 22.
“Our team at the Whiteface Club and Resort is thrilled to welcome back our homeowners, club members, and the public to enjoy our pristine golf course and outstanding restaurants,” said Tracey Brooks, CEO of the Whiteface Companies. “We were very busy in April getting the property ready for our full slate of summer facilities. We can’t wait to share another beautiful season with you. There’s truly no prettier place on the lake.”
At the Whiteface Club Golf Course, PGA Professional Perry Babcock and his welcoming staff are set to open the doors on May 8. Brooks, Babcock and course superintendent Mike Sabatini will fire the opening tee shots of the season from the first hole at 10 AM.
In addition to his chores of running the pro shop and organizing lessons and clinics, Babcock has recently added the title of Club Manager.
“As we prepare to open the Whiteface Club and Resort on May 8, we’re not just welcoming golfers back to the course - we’re welcoming the return of camaraderie, challenge, and the timeless beauty of the game set against the Adirondack landscape,” said Babcock. “Each new season brings fresh opportunity, and we look forward to sharing another year of unforgettable moments with our homeowners, members and guests.”
Pre-season observers are in agreement - the 18-hole championship track came through the winter in outstanding condition from tee to green, thanks to Sabatini and his crew, whose dedication and hard work throughout the offseason is already paying dividends with a verdant shade of green.
Golfers can get ready now for the approaching season by using the Chrono-Golf by Lightspeed app. Users can make tee-times, tennis court and dinner reservations – anytime day or night - as well as view their accounts from the ease of a smart phone or computer.
Tee times can still be made by calling the pro shop at 518-523-PUTT during normal hours. Players may walk or ride anytime.
The Mirror Lake Inn offers a luxury golf package with the Whiteface Club that includes unlimited golf. You will be lodged in a Lookout Room with daily breakfast included. For more details, just log on to: Unlimited Golf Package - Mirror Lake Inn.
Both the Moose Lodge Boathouse and Café on the Green restaurants, headed by Food and Beverage Director Andrew Quinn, will also begin serving patrons on May 8. As was the case last year, the dining establishments are a family affair. Quinn’s son Patrick is the club’s Wine Director and mixologist.
Café on the Green behind the first tee, and Moose Lodge Boathouse along the shore of Lake Placid lake, have talented kitchens led by Executive Chef Alex Hudson. Both offer indoor and outdoor settings. Hudson’s sister, Kayla, is the Whiteface Club’s wedding and event coordinator.
The family affair also extends further as Director of Facilities, Corey Reid, is the son of the late Ron Reid, former golf course superintendent. Also, Director of Construction, Steve Hackett, is joined on his staff by son Ryan, while Dominic Sabatini, son of golf course superintendent Mike Sabatini, mans the course’s irrigation system.
SAY “I DO” IN GLORIOUS SURROUNDINGS
The Adirondacks’ quintessential wedding venue offers a setting that is unmatched: vows are exchanged on the lakeshore with Whiteface Mountain a veritable witness in the background. The Whiteface Club’s cadre of horticulturists has already started to primp the grounds for the big days that lie ahead. To discuss this Upstate New York venue as your wedding site, please contact Kayla Hudson at 518-523-2551. Alex Hudson will also handle the culinary presentations for weddings and special functions with Andrew Quinn also managing this part of the operation.
TENNIS
The Whiteface Club Tennis Center, headed by Director Ikuo Toishi, features Har-Tru courts, a pickleball court, full-service pro shop and stringing services, all in a bucolic setting. Michael Bucar will join Toishi at the tennis club, providing tennis lessons and clinics this season.
The tennis center welcomes season members, visiting guests and juniors beginning Friday, May 22. Call 518-523-2551 and arrange instruction, racquet services and hitting sessions.
MARINA AND WATERFRONT
The waterfront, also opening May 22, is a picturesque lawn area which gently slopes towards a sandy beach and swimming area on the lake. This is a special gathering place for family picnics, croquet, and volleyball games, or to just relax while enjoying the spectacular scenery.
