New York, NY — In celebration of Lunar New Year and the Year of the Snake,  Danielle Chang, founder of LUCKYRICE, has teamed up with internationally-renowned artist Warren King and architects Richard Gluckman and Andrew Weigand to create a monumental public art installation taking over the Oculus floor at the World Trade Center during the Lunar New Year period from January 29 through February 12, 2025.

Featuring augmented reality, the serpentine structure, titled INFINITE HARMONY, will span an impressive 150 linear feet and undulate between four and seven feet high, revealing itself to the viewer as they walk by. Built of two identical sculptural parts, its yin-yang proportions—symbolizing harmony—takes over the Oculus floor with a footprint of 79 by 34 feet. Built from composite aluminum panels using CNC (computer numerical control) technology, the striking installation pays homage to both architect Santiago Calatrava’s interior structure of the Oculus as well as its location on the World Trade Center site. Guests will be able to interact with the sculpture after scanning a QR Code, which will allow them to interact and control movements of an animated overlay of a snake.

“I created Infinite Harmony as an offering for the Year of the Snake with that hope that all of us can tap into the snake’s transformative and rejuvenating energy,” said the project’s creator Danielle Chang. “The Lunar New Year is not just an Asian holiday, it is for everyone.”

“The sculpture is a true collaboration – blending Danielle’s vision, Warren’s sculptural style, and Andrew’s strategy for fabrication,” said Gluckman Tang Architects’ Richard Gluckman. “The design responds to the context of the Oculus and the symbolism of the celebration, reinterpreting the snake into the infinite flow of a Mobius strip - an object symbolizing harmony and growth while framing dynamic spaces that invite reflection and celebrate renewal.”

“We’re incredibly excited to host INFINITE HARMONY at the Oculus as we ring in the Year of the Snake,” said Jolene Yeats, World Trade Center Director at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. “This stunning installation exemplifies what has become our hallmark at the World Trade Center – celebrating diversity, cultural connections, and all that unites us as we welcome the world to this vibrant hub.”

“My art explores Chinese traditions infused with my life in New York. For me, creating public installations fosters dialogue, showcases diversity, and builds community,” said artist Warren King. “Presenting this piece in the iconic Oculus with LUCKYRICE, Gluckman Tang, and the Port Authority is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a realization of both my personal and professional dreams.”

A LUCKYRICE production, the two-week celebration will open with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and press conference on January 29 at 10am and culminate with a closing ceremony and healing yoga session led by internationally-acclaimed yoga teacher Eddie Stern on February 12, 2025.
