Glens Falls is OpenGlens Falls, NY (June 4, 2020) — The businesses of Glens Falls want to spread the word that Glens Falls is OPEN for business! Retailers have opened their doors for shoppers and outdoor dining, takeout and delivery is available.

With Governor Cuomo’s blessing on outdoor dining as of today, June 4, 2020, a number of downtown eateries are currently offering patio seating, with tables spaced six feet apart, and additional restaurants plan to follow suit in the weeks to come. Masks are required until guests are seated.

Restaurants currently offering outdoor dining include [farmacy] restobar, the Queensbury Hotel’s Fenimore’s Pub, Morgan & Co. Restaurant, and Downtown City Tavern, according to their Facebook pages, with Juicin’ Jar opening June 9, Spot Coffee opening for takeout on June 8 and many others currently offering curbside, takeout and delivery, such as the Grateful Den, Birch Bark Eatery, Bullpen Tavern, Radici, Mikado, Raul’s Mexican Grill, Alchemy Bagel and others. A number of restaurants are also hiring, and the Shirt Factory is holding its Thursday Markets with advance ordering.

Queensbury Hotel General Manager Tyler Herrick says, “Even though the Q has remained open during the Covid-19 Pandemic, the operation has been far from normal; we are anxious to bring back more team members and get back to serving our local community and regional visitors in the near future. We have been working alongside our elected officials and have seen broad-based community support for new initiatives to help our city to provide a consistent, clean and safe place to work, shop, dine, and stay.  We are THRILLED to be able to continue the reopening process TODAY by welcoming guests back to Park Patio and I will continue to ensure that our focus is always on the health and safety of our team and visitors alike.”

“We are relieved to be able to at least begin offering outdoor dining,” says [farmacy] restobar owner Christina Richards. “After - I’m not even sure how many days now - of trying to stay afloat on take-out orders only, we are looking forward to the change. We will be offering take out AND patio service daily starting at noon Tuesday through Saturday. It is currently on a first-come-first-served basis. Hours and days are fluid right now as we adjust to the ever-changing situation at hand. Our best suggestion is to follow us on social media for updates or call with any questions.”

Shops are open as well! Downtown has its lights on with Fountain Square Outfitters, Milk & Honey, 42 Degrees, Finders Keepers open for business today with Rude Betty and Northeastern Fine Jewelry opening June 8. BJSArtworks is open by appointment along with shops at The Shirt Factory, and many local retailers such as The Creative Chameleon, MinkyMink and Lake George Olive Oil are currently selling online or offering delivery or curbside pickup. Most shops are updating their Facebook Pages as they make their reopening plans.

“Milk & Honey has a supply of masks and hand sanitizer to help make our customers comfortable,” says owner Ann Parrish. ”We will be steaming any clothing that our customers try on. It is more important than ever for our community to feel safe while supporting small businesses!”

“Fountain Square Outfitters reopened its doors on June 3rd,” says owner Matt Fuller. “The response has been great so far. The curbside sales were also a pretty interesting adventure and we are thankful for those who supported us. We have adopted precautions for COVID-related cleaning and interactions and are happy so far with the patience people are showing. Just glad to be open again.”

Robin Barkenhagen, owner of 42 Degrees and the Glens Falls Collaborative Board President, says that in the coming weeks there will be an ad campaign to promote that Downtown Glens Falls is open. “This is a bonus ad campaign for Glens Falls Collaborative members,” he states.

Slated to begin in August is Take-A-Bite, the popular Wednesday evening event in Downtown Glens Falls where visitors can stroll and dine outdoors enjoying live music with many restaurants offering small portions out on the sidewalk. Take-A-Bite is set to continue Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. through September. The dates, of course, are subject to change as regulations due to COVID-19 dictate what is permitted.

Wing Fest, typically taking place in May, has been tentatively rescheduled to Saturday, October 10, from noon to 3 p.m. Pet Fest, also rescheduled from May, is set for Sunday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Grandma’s Table is currently on the calendar for Sunday, August 16, from 4 to 6 p.m.
