Auburn, NY (May 27, 2025) – There still are a handful of openings for workshops at Quilting by the Lake, an annual art quilt conference run by Schweinfurth Art Center that draws both faculty and students from around the country. The two-week event, running July 20 to Aug. 1, is located on the Hobart and William Smith Colleges campus in Geneva.
This year’s faculty are nationally renown quilt artists Betty Busby, Sheila Frampton-Cooper, Valerie S. Goodwin, Paula Kovarik, Youngmin Lee, Sujata Shah, Maria Shell, and David Taylor. While some classes are filled, some spots remain open in both weeks, covering topics such as monoprinting map collage, Kawandi handmade quilts, and improvisational medallion quilts..
Quilting by the Lake draws thousands of tourist dollars into the region for the last two weeks in July. While on-campus housing is available, many attendees choose to stay in local hotels and Airbnbs and frequent local restaurants.
