Dekalb Market Hall and Sixpoint Brewery Shake It Up!
Brooklyn, N.Y. – The annual festival that celebrates Bavarian culture, food, and beer is coming to Downtown Brooklyn for an Oktoberfest Bash hosted by DeKalb Market Hall and Sixpoint Brewery. Inspired by the annual German festival, the event will include authentic eats, games, and activities for all ages. Traditional music and throwback tunes from the Street Brass Band and Shag Horns will keep the party going and people dancing all day. The Oktoberfest Bash is free and will take place on Saturday, September 23 from 12 pm – 10 pm downstairs at City Point, which is located at 445 Albee Square West in Downtown Brooklyn.
The Oktoberfest BASH will kick off on the Main Stage with Jeff Fairbanks and the Street Brass Band quintet. The strolling band, which has opened for the New York Philharmonic, and played on the Today Show, will perform a wild mix of brass-based music featuring traditional German, Oompha, and Polka tunes. The music will continue with the Shag Horns who will huff, puff, and blow the house down! Band members have performed with Ricky Martin, Andy Grammer, Jon Batiste, Umphrey's McGee, and many others. Next up: Brooklyn’s own DJ Mike spinning sets into the night.
As the music plays, festivities will be happening throughout DeKalb Market Hall with Brooklyn Bridge Parents hosting paper heart-making crafts inspired by traditional German gingerbread cookies for kids 3-10 yrs. Plus, a Dirndl Girl and Lederhosen Boy will add a European element and pose for photos.
DeKalb Market Hall will offer traditional fare from vendors who have traveled the world to serve the most authentic dishes in Brooklyn. Tastes of Oktoberfest will include spicy grilled donor kebabs from Kotti Donor, loaded franks, schnitzel sandwiches served on a toasted pretzel bun, and hand-cut fries with Berliner curry from Mortiz. Plus, beer crowlers, and growlers from the Craft & Carry taps. Sixpoint Brewery adds to the celebration with its Steal the Stein, free beer with a purchase of a Stein (while supplies last), German-inspired menu, and Oktoberfest games throughout the day.
