New York, NY (July 23, 2026) – The York Theatre (Joseph Hayward, Producing Artistic Director, Wendy Hall, Managing Director ) today announced the lineup for its NEW2NY Series, presenting three new musicals-in-development this spring at The Theatre at St. Jean's (150 E. 76th Street) from March 6 - April 11, 2027. All tickets are $35 (plus fees); for information and tickets, visit yorktheatre.org. As is customary for New2NY, these are showcases of new works in development, and there are no opening or press nights.

Sometimes Love, presented in association with Red Hanger Productions and Bee and Tea Productions, is an original musical inspired by the extraordinary true story of Aryana Rose, whose deeply personal presentation at The Moth captivated millions after it went viral in 2017. Aryana, single, in her forties, and the proud mother of a grown daughter, leaves behind the belief that she'll find romantic love and moves overseas to begin a new chapter centered on herself and art. Fate leads her to Gianluca, a magnetic, free-spirited artist many years her junior who awakens her heart in ways she never imagined possible. Their unlikely romance blossoms into a passionate love story that defies convention. As they navigate desire, intimacy, family, loss, and the inevitable evolution of every relationship, they discover that the truest love isn't about finding a perfect ending; it's about embracing every beautiful, fleeting moment along the way.
Michael Mott is an internationally acclaimed, award-winning composer, lyricist, and vocal producer with over 15 million streams to his name, named one of Playbill's “Contemporary Musical Theatre Songwriters You Should Know.” Gretchen Suárez-Peña is a Puerto Rican playwright and screenwriter and Assistant Professor at Florida Atlantic University; she is a 2026 Dramatists Guild Foundation National Fellow and 2026 Candela Playwrights Summer Fellow. Peter Flynn directed last season’s Monte Cristo and the multimedia performances of November 1918: The Great War & the Great Gatsby for Carnegie Hall.
NIKOLA TESLA: THE FORGOTTEN GENIUS

Nikola Tesla: The Forgotten Genius tells the true and astonishing story of Nikola Tesla, the mystic, genius, and inventor who battled Thomas Edison to bring electricity to the world.
Robert Lindsey-Nassif has worked on and off Broadway with Hal Prince, Stephen Sondheim, Arthur Miller, and Disney Feature Animation; on Broadway, he composed the score for Carol Burnett's Hollywood Arms and arranged dance and instrumental music for Sondheim's Bounce. He is a recipient of the Richard Rodgers Award and the Gilman Gonzalez-Falla Award. John Znidarsic is Artistic Director of Arts and Artists of Tomorrow and has produced and directed Broadway's Future Songbook Series at Lincoln Center's Bruno Walter Auditorium for over twenty-five years, premiering the work of more than four hundred emerging composers and lyricists.

ALL THE WAY HOME is based on James Agee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel A Death in the Family and its Pulitzer Prize-winning stage adaptation All the Way Home. Originally directed by Frank Galati, this exquisite new musical tells a universal story of family, faith and love, as an author recalls the singular event that changed his life as a boy.
With its sweeping score and stellar creative team, this developmental production is presented in association with Willette Klausner, Ted Snowdon and Riki Kane Larimer.
Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty are Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award winners for Ragtime, two-time Oscar nominees, and members of the Theater Hall of Fame. Ragtime won this year’s Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Their many Broadway credits include Once on This Island, Anastasia, and Seussical. Frank Galati won two Tony Awards for his adaptation and direction of Steppenwolf Theatre’s Broadway production of The Grapes of Wrath and was Tony-nominated for his direction of the original Broadway production of Ragtime. Theatre Hall of Fame induction, 2022. Josh Rhodes directed and choreographed the Broadway revival of Spamalot, the off-Broadway hit Beau, and choreographed Cinderella, First Date, It Shoulda Been You, and Bright Star, among many others, on and off Broadway and in the West End.
The New2NY Series is where new musicals take their first steps in New York. For nearly two decades, New2NY has served as a vital launching pad for new work. Be among the first to experience new musicals and help to shape what comes next. These lovingly and minimally staged concert presentations strip away the spectacle and focus on what matters: the writing, the music, and the storytelling.
The series has a strong track record of successful transfers, including In Transit prior to its Broadway run, and most recently Monte Cristo and Truly, Howard Hughes, which went on to The York’s Mainstage Series.
THE YORK THEATRE, “Where Musicals Come to Life,” is the only theatre in New York City—and one of very few in the world—dedicated to developing and fully producing new musicals and preserving notable shows from the past. For over five decades, York’s intimate, imaginative approach to producing both original and classic musicals has earned critical acclaim and recognition from artists and audiences alike. Since 1997, The York has focused on new musicals in its Mainstage Series—most of them world, American, or New York premieres—by some of the field’s most esteemed creators and has also helped launch the careers of many talented new writers. Over 47 cast recordings from York Theatre productions are now available, including its acclaimed revival of CLOSER THAN EVER (2013 Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best Revival). The York is the recipient of an Emmy Nomination, a special Drama Desk Award for “Developing and Producing New Musicals,” and a special Outer Critics Circle Award for “50 Years of Producing New and Classic Musicals.” Most recently, Stephanie Jae Park received a Lortel Nomination for her performance in The York’s Monte Cristo. The York is currently producing at The Theatre at St. Jean’s at 76th Street and Lexington Avenue.

Single tickets, priced from $35-$85 can be purchased here starting May 7, with a limited number of subsidized $25 tickets available for each performance for students, patrons under 40, artists, seniors, and first responders.
