DEAN & KRISTA SCHARF | HOW TWO
Alliance Gallery
On View: March 21 - April 26
Artist Talk: March 21, 3pm
Opening Reception: March 21, 4-6pm
Recognizable to local pet owners as the founders of Dog Mountain Lodge, Dean and Krista Scharf have been collaborating artistically since 1977. Their work is created wordlessly, each piece is started by one of them and then handed over to the other to change, add to, or delete from as they see fit, before being handed back, without comment. The works are exchanged over again until both artists feel that their artistic vision has been accomplished.
SUSAN ROSTOW | CODDIWOMPLES
Loft Gallery
On View: March 21 - April 26
Opening Reception: March 21, 4-6pm
Artist Talk: April 11, 11am
‘Coddiwomple’ is a slang word meaning “to travel purposefully toward an unknown destination”, and this is the ethos that drives Rostow’s artistic practice. Using printed paper, clay, pigments, and sand, her sculptures grow and reveal themselves through layering, burying, and uncovering. Her biomorphic shapes suggest mythical creatures and mysterious organic forms.
Also of note on Saturday, March 21:
