I LOVE NY Logo - stackedPeak Colors This Weekend Throughout Many Parts of the Capital-Saratoga, Greater Niagara, Chautauqua-Allegheny and Hudson Valley Regions

Albany, NY - This is the sixth 2026 I LOVE NY Fall Foliage Report for New York State. Reports are obtained from more than 100 volunteer field observers and reflect expected color conditions for the coming weekend. Reports are issued every Wednesday afternoon. I LOVE NY defines "peak" as the best overall appearance the foliage will have during the season, taking into account color transition, brilliance, and leaf droppage.

The progression of bright and vibrant fall colors across New York State continues this weekend with peak foliage throughout much of the Capital-Saratoga, Greater Niagara, Chautauqua-Allegheny and Hudson Valley regions, and near-peak and peak leaves dominating the Finger Lakes and central and southern portions of the Thousand Islands. Leaves in the Adirondacks and Catskills will be mostly past-peak, while foliage at midpoint of change is sweeping across Long Island. This is according to the field reports from volunteer observers for the Empire State Development Division of Tourism’s I LOVE NY program.

Locations with the most significant changes include Lake George (Adirondacks); Voorheesville, Troy and Schenectady (Capital-Saratoga); Catskill (Catskills); Amsterdam (Central New York); Moravia, Auburn, Elmira, Syracuse; Watkins Glen, Ithaca and Penn Yan (Finger Lakes); Chautauqua and Jamestown (Chautauqua-Allegheny); Buffalo, East Aurora, Batavia, Lewiston and Albion (Greater Niagara); Pulaski and Oswego (Thousand Islands-Seaway); and Hudson, Newburgh, Cornwall-on-Hudson, Goshen and Bear Mountain (Hudson Valley).

Volunteer Foliage Spotters
The I LOVE NY team of volunteer foliage spotters, located throughout the state’s 11 vacation regions, are tasked with keeping track of the color change in their area as leaves progress each week. The information is then used for fall foliage reports, which are posted online each week, featuring a detailed map of color change throughout New York State, vantage points for viewing spectacular foliage and suggested autumn getaways.
