New York State and the New York Racing Association, Inc. are currently redeveloping Belmont Park, with a $455 million capital construction project set to result in a world-class racing and entertainment destination on Long Island. The historic venue has long been a pillar of New York’s horse racing tradition and is now poised to reach new heights.

Additional early-season offerings include the Sky Flyer Zipline that opens on May 15, Discover Biathlon presented by Ariens at Mt Van Hoevenberg starting May 24 and the return of inline skating at the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval on May 23.

(April 16, 2025) – The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) announces that the WHOOP UCI Mountain Bike World Series will return to Lake Placid from Friday, October 3 through Sunday, October 5. The three-day event will feature men’s and women’s UCI World Cup races in both endurance and gravity disciplines, including Cross-country Short Track (XCC) and Cross-country Olympic (XCO) at Mt Van Hoevenberg, and Downhill (DHI) at Whiteface Mountain in adjacent Wilmington.

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. — The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame will play host to a pair of special events on Saturday, April 26 associated with the upcoming Kentucky Derby. From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the Museum’s education department will present a Derby Day of Discovery program in the Museum’s HorsePlay! Gallery, which is sponsored by the New York State Thoroughbred Breeding and Development Fund. At 12 p.m., the Museum will hold its annual Kentucky Derby Preview Panel in the Hall of Fame. Admission to both events is free.
