Long LakeLong Lake, N.Y. –Winter in Long Lake has arrived and it is time to play.

On Saturday, January 17, the 24th Annual Long Lake Winter Carnival returns to Mt. Sabattis located at 6 Pavilion Way at noon, bringing a full day of snow-fueled fun, friendly competition, and classic ADK winter traditions.

The day kicks off with the coronation of the Moonlighter’s Snowmobile Club King and Queen, followed by a packed schedule of family-friendly events, bonfire, ice skating, sledding, and plenty of chances to make lifetime memories.

One of the most anticipated events of the day, the Cardboard Sled Races, begins at 1:00 p.m. Racers of all ages are invited to design and build their sleds using cardboard, tape, wax, and paint — then send them flying downhill. Prizes will be awarded for speed and for Best in Show, with divisions for individuals and teams.

Throughout the afternoon, enjoy a rotating lineup of crowd favorites including the Kids Balloon Chase, Men’s Feats of Strength, Ladies Frying Pan Toss, One Shot Hockey, and the return of the Broomball Tournament which has been on a long winter’s slumber hiatus. A town-wide photo with Winter Carnival Royalty will take place immediately following the Cardboard Sled Races.

As night falls, stick around for a fireworks display at 6:00 p.m. over Mt. Sabattis — a perfect finale to a full day outdoors.
