This year's show will feature over 30 vendors each showcasing a multitude of their specialty whether it be rocks, gems, museum quality crystals, fossils, mineral specimens (some that fluoresce under UV light), exquisite handcrafted jewelry made with precious and semi-precious stones, gemstone beads/supplies, and so much more. New this year are Crystal readings with vendor Area 51 and Tarot & Oracle readings with vendor StoneWear Creations.
The very popular Fluorescent Mineral Hunt for Kids 12 and under will take place Friday, August 28, at 8:00 pm. A short presentation by Geologist club member Dino Zack, University of Buffalo alumnus, precedes the "hunt for rocks that glow". Children can borrow portable black lights to search for glowing minerals and keep what they find. The club will also be providing free "Mineral Kits for Kids" in the big tent out front of the Pavilion on both days of the show, Saturday and Sunday.
A guided Mineral Collecting Field Trip to Power’s Farm, known for black tourmaline and quartz crystals, is scheduled to leave the Pavilion at precisely 9:00 am on Saturday, August 29 only. The collecting donation is $5 per person for the day. Please dress accordingly - no open toed shoes. Bring a bucket/canvass bag for collecting, bug spray and water.
Free Wire-wrapping Demonstrations by Dave Millis of Pennsylvania will be held both Saturday and Sunday. Millis, known for his gem trees and wire-wrapped jewelry, will provide free lessons to anyone interested in learning the art of wire wrapping. Tools and supplies are provided.
Raffles. Large Brazilian Amethyst Cathedral and Hand-crafted BBQ Grill (made and donated by club member Barry Whiteford). Grill ticket sales help offset the cost of the supplies for the wire wrapping classes. Tickets for both the cathedral and grill cost $1 each or six for $5 and can be purchased at the club table. The drawing will take place Sunday at 2:00 pm - you do not need to be present to win if your ticket is pulled.
T-Shirts. Sales include 2026 club T-shirts and canvass bags. Selling previous years' shirts at a fraction of the cost.
Silent Auctions will be held throughout both days of the show, featuring many mineral specimens, crystals, and jewelry.
Food provided by The Blue Line Food Truck of The Blue House, Madrid, NY.
A portion of the proceeds from the show help support Scholarships at SUNY Potsdam as well as fund the “Mineral Kits for Kids” and the “Kids’ Fluorescent Mineral Hunt.”
