Background: The Aquarium is a non-profit organization dedicated to education and conservation. At events like Oceanda, guests learn about issues impacting animals and their habitats, as well as actionable steps they can take to make a positive impact for the planet.

Right now, more than one-third of the world’s fish populations are considered “overfished” – that means they are being fished at a faster rate than they can reproduce, depleting the population. "Sustainable seafood” refers to fishing or farming practices that consider the long-term viability of harvested species, minimize harmful environmental impacts, and support livelihoods of communities that are dependent on the fishing economy.

Making sustainable seafood choices at restaurants and supermarkets is an easy way to help save species and preserve healthy ocean habitats for the future.
