Norm Lewis is a powerhouse of the American theater known for his rich baritone voice, imposing stage presence, and history-making roles. He has been a staple of Broadway for over three decades, and in 2014 made history as the first African American "Phantom" on Broadway in The Phantom Of The Opera. He earned Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations for his acclaimed performance as Porgy in The Gershwins’Porgy and Bess opposite Audra McDonald. Lewis will perform at the Festival on Saturday, August 1, at 8 p.m. at the Robinson Pavilion at Anyela's Vineyards in Skaneateles, NY.

His extensive Broadway credits include Once on This Island, The Little

Mermaid, Chicago, Sondheim on Sondheim, Side Show, Miss Saigon, The Wild Party, and The Who’s Tommy. In London’s West End, he has appeared as Javert in Les Misérables and Les Misérables: The 25th Anniversary Concert.

Off-Broadway, Lewis has played lead roles in Sweeney Todd and Dreamgirls with Jennifer Holliday. He has performed in Dessa Rose (Drama Desk nomination, AUDELCO Award), Shakespeare in the Park’s The Tempest, The Two Gentlemen of Verona (Drama League nomination), Captains Courageous, and A New Brain.

Lewis has additionally been widely featured on PBS, including Live from Lincoln Center: Show Boat with Vanessa Williams, Norm Lewis: Who Am I?, New Year’s Eve: A Gershwin

Celebration with Dianne Reeves, and First You Dream: The Music of Kander & Ebb. He also appeared as Caiaphas in NBC’s Emmy Award–winning Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert!, alongside John Legend and Sara Bareilles.

Mr. Lewis starred in Spike Lee’s 2020 critically acclaimed film Da 5 Bloods. His television credits include the FX series Pose, ABC’s Women of the Movement, as well as appearances in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Bull, Chicago Med, Gotham, The Blacklist, Blue Bloods, and his recurring role as Senator Edison Davis on the hit drama Scandal.

Mr. Lewis is a proud founding member of Black Theatre United, an organization that stands together to help protect Black people, Black talent, and Black lives of all shapes and orientations in theater and communities across the country.

As stated by the New York Times, Norm Lewis is “Just about everything a leading man with a mighty voice should be.” In his one-man show, Lewis will present a revue of songs hand-picked from his impressive resumé of the who’s-who among leading man roles & will lend his unique and insightful vocal versatility to selections ranging from jazz and blues, to soul, pop, and classic American favorites.

The Skaneateles Festival’s upcoming season is from July 30-August 22, 2026. Season Pass sales began on April 1. Vineyard Series and Week Passes will be available starting April 15, and individual tickets will go on sale May 6. Since 1980, the Skaneateles Festival has grown from a few concerts in the local library to a month-long celebration each summer that attracts some of the world’s finest musicians, involves community volunteers, and draws audiences from all over the Northeastern United States.
