NYS Parks Recreation and Historic PreservationNewburgh, NY (February 3, 2026) - This Presidents’ Day Weekend come celebrate George Washington’s 294th birthday—and America’s 250th—at Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site. The three-day event will be held February 14th, 15th and 16th, from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm each day. Admission is free for all three days.

While the Hasbrouck House, which Gen. Washington used as his headquarters, is closed for restoration, celebrations will be held in the site’s museum and on its grounds. There will be reenactor demonstrations of 18th century military and camp life. Visitors can wish happy birthday to George Washington (portrayed by John Koopman III), and talk about the war and domestic life with Martha Washington (portrayed by Sandy Spector) and Washington’s enslaved valet William Lee (portrayed by Quinton Castle).

On Saturday and Sunday, kids can make a popsicle stick bird feeder to bring home, and on Monday there will be antique toys and games for kids to play with and learn about how children had fun during the 18th century.
