Scots Day_Leigh DupeeEnjoy a day of Scottish heritage featuring immersive history, music, ceremony, and culture

Ticonderoga, NY - Fort Ticonderoga invites visitors to celebrate Scottish heritage all day long with a packed schedule of immersive history, music, ceremony, and culture on June 13 from 9:30am-5pm. Explore Scottish clan tents and vendors featuring kilts, crafts, and Celtic goods; witness thrilling musket demonstrations showcasing Highland soldiers and their weapons; march alongside clans and the Black Watch to a moving memorial ceremony at the Scottish Cairn; and enjoy guided tours of the fort, museum collections, historic gardens, and Mount Defiance.

Throughout the day, experience the stirring sounds of fifes, drums, bagpipes, and traditional Scottish music performances, discover the evolution of Highland military uniforms, uncover surprising Scottish stories hidden within Ticonderoga’s collections, and even take part in the ceremonial Presentation of the Haggis celebrating Scottish tradition and community.

“We are thrilled to host this popular cultural event,” said Beth L. Hill, Fort Ticonderoga President and CEO. “Fort Ticonderoga has an enduring connection with Scottish history and culture. The Black Watch, or 42nd Highland Regiment, sealed their reputation at Ticonderoga during the Battle of Carillon on July 8, 1758. The regiment suffered more than 50% casualties during their assault on the right of the French Lines as part of the British attack. Ticonderoga has remained a legendary battle honor within the regiment’s history.”

Adventure Awaits Across 2,000 Acres:
Across 2,000 acres of historically significant landscape, the full weekend includes guided tours, narrated boat cruises, the King’s Garden, and museum exhibition spaces; historic trades programs; ongoing living history programs; thrilling weapons demonstrations; fife & drum performances; the Mount Defiance experience; and the Carillon Battlefield hiking trail.
