Glens Falls, NY — The Hyde Collection is delighted to announce the opening of Daniel Giordano: Crystal Blue Persuasion, a new exhibition featuring the innovative work of Newburgh-based sculptor Daniel Giordano. The exhibition will run from June 22 to September 15, 2024.
Daniel Giordano (b. 1988) has garnered significant attention on the contemporary art scene for his unique integration of ceramic processes, woodworking, assemblage, found objects, blown glass, and audacious surface treatments. Crystal Blue Persuasion will showcase Giordano’s simultaneously alien and strangely familiar figures, evocations of his biography transmuted: family, Roman Catholic doctrine, Italian food, and action figures he played with as a youth are regular source material for work that redefines what it means to be a sculptor today. Giordano’s work has conceptual similarities to the alchemy-inspired sculpture of Tunga or the biomorphic, quasi-figurative abstractions of Barbara Chase-Riboud; but he will tell you his influences are Ren and Stimpy and good old-fashioned spaghetti westerns.
