First Lady of Outlaw Country Nikki Lane Christened the Stage at New York’s Most Stylish Country Western Bar
New York, N.Y. (July 25, 2024) - Last night, Desert 5 Spot New York, Brooklyn’s newest country music and live entertainment venue & bar, transformed Williamsburg into a raucous Western haven to celebrate its highly anticipated grand opening.
Inspired by Cosmic Americana and the rustic allure of Pioneertown, Desert 5 Spot NY kicked off the night with a vinyl set by DJ Moonshine & Prison Rodeo, setting the tone for an unforgettable night under the signature Disco Cowboy Boots. The crowd went wild as outlaw country queen Nikki Lane took the stage, belting out hits like "Highway Queen'' and "First High" while guests enjoyed the signature agave-based cocktails and Los Angeles-approved tacos.
The bash continued with electrifying sets by Chase Manhattan, Howlin' Herd, and Johnny Travis Jr., each bringing their own brand of twang to the Big Apple, while brave partygoers queued up for “Betsy”, the resident mechanical bull. As the night wore on, DJs Wade Crescent, Richie Quake, Big Dumb Baby, and Valley Latini kept the party going till the wee hours, proving that Desert 5 Spot is set to be Brooklyn's new frontier for country music enthusiasts and urban cowboys alike.
The venue is now officially open and will host a regular rotating calendar of weekly programming, such as live musical performances from emerging country artists, the Desert Five House Band, line dancing and two stepping classes, cowboy karaoke, tarot card reading, a Vintage Trading Post and more. DJs will also spin a range of hits from Alan Jackson to Tom Petty, Shania Twain to Dolly Parton and, most recently, Beyonce’s new homage to the genre of country music.
“Desert 5 Spot was born out of our love for country music and a desire to create a space where cell phones and Instagram take a back seat to allow people to just drink and have unadulterated fun with their friends,” said Ten Five Hospitality Managing Partner, Dan Daley. “My partners and I spent the majority of our careers in New York, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to bring Desert 5 to the city we still call home.”
Designed by Bernadette Blanc with styling by Wade Crescent, Desert 5 Spot’s interiors were inspired by road trips through California, Arizona, Montana, New Mexico and Texas. As such, most of the furnishings are carefully hand-selected from vintage dealers and thrift shops across the West, each with its own story and origin. Ten Five Hospitality has created an authentic and interactive entertainment where cowboys come together to support local artists and revel in today’s greater cultural shift towards the country ethos.
The feature design elements of the space include a false storefront resembling a Pioneertown motel, which immediately transports visitors into the Mojave Desert as soon as they step foot into the space. An area near the stage, coined “Dolly’s Corner”, pays homage to the Queen of Country with rhinestone-studded pink suede wallpaper and rare photographs of the country icon. A custom mechanical bull, DJ booth fashioned from a vintage Chevy truck, the iconic disco cowboy boots and a cactus garden-inspired porch, add playful charm. Saloon-style doors, barrel tables, and cowhide rugs enhance the ambiance.
Serving LA-approved tacos, Desert 5 Spot New York features its world class cocktail menu with emphasis on tequila and mezcal, complimented by a wide selection of local and independent spirits and beers including Brooklyn Brewery & Brooklyn Gin.
Jolene | Codigo Blanco, Watermelon, Strawberry, Lime
Dropkick Me, Jesus | Ilegal Mezcal, Green Chartreuse, Chile, Lime, Mint
Dolly’s Spiked Lemonade | Grey Goose, Lillet Blanc, Cointreau, Chamomile, Honey, Lemon
An impressive lineup of country and rock n’ roll talents have already graced the stage at Desert 5 Spot in LA: Stagecoach headliner Kane Brown, Dasha, Orville Peck, Midland, Green Day, Noah Cyrus, rising star Drake Milligan, larger-than-life Paul Cauthen, and the esteemed first lady of outlaw country, Nikki Lane have all been drawn to the intimacy of the LA venue. Celebratory occasions and after-parties at Desert 5 Spot LA have further attracted artists like Lainey Wilson and John Mayer.
