Staatsburg, N.Y. (09/02/25) — Experience the scenic landscape encompassing Staatsburgh State Historic Site through the focused lens of drawing on Saturday, September 20 at 11am. Professional artist and educator Mira Fink will guide participants as they take a short walk around the grounds of Mills Memorial State Park, taking in the beauty of the English landscape garden design and Hudson River. Instruction in creating thumbnail sketches using view finders to explore composition and the effects of light and shadow will be given. Learn how to break down the landscape into simple shapes with areas of different values. All materials will be provided. Limited to 12 participants and recommended for teens and adults. No previous drawing experience is needed. This workshop is weather permitting, with a rain date of September 21. Advanced tickets are required. Staatsburgh’s 79-room mansion overlooking the Hudson River is in the hamlet of Staatsburg, between Hyde Park and Rhinebeck. Visitors may also enjoy a picnic or stroll by the Hudson River, or a hike along the woodland trails in adjacent Mills Memorial State Park.
