Annual Artisan Trails in Washington County — July 13 & 14
Washington County, NY — The public is invited to explore artist studios and mini artist faires in a weekend of celebration of the talent in scenic, historic Washington County, New York. The sixth annual Artisan Trails in Washington County event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 13th and 14th, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with live demonstrations, plein aire painting, workshops, and, of course, plenty of art available for collectors to purchase.
“The natural beauty of the county is only rivaled by the interesting and talented folks who live and work there,” say organizers.. “New this year are vendor Hub Locations, and Artisan Partners. Hub locations are an opportunity for multiple artisans to show the passion they infuse into their craft at different locations of note within our county. Artisan Partners are breweries, bed and breakfasts, restaurants, wineries and other establishments who add to the tour experience through their quality food, beverage, and lodging options.”
This year, the event is organized by Karen and Steve Mattison with Kris Gregson Moss, who co-founded the Artisan Trails in Washington County in 2018 with Susan Whiting.
Artisan Trails in Washington County is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the rich talent pool of Washington County, NY, in showcasing the beauty, history, and diverse artisanal skill sets which exist within our borders.
“I’ve lived in Washington County for most of my life and I still find new and interesting things to do here. Our family’s involvement in this group has enhanced this through people we have met and places we have visited on the trail,” said Mr. Mattison, spokesperson for the event.
Visitors will be guided to each site via maps both online and paper, plus roadside signs. The tour typically includes studios of painters, textile artists, metal sculpturists, stained glass artists, photographers, potters, furniture makers, beekeepers, blacksmiths, farms, cider houses, breweries and more. The event itself is free and open to the public.
