Osceola, N.Y. – Adger Williams will make his debut performance at the North American Fiddlers Hall of Fame (HOF) and Museum on Sunday, September 1. Adger’s performance at the Museum, 1121 Comins Road in Osceola, will be presented in the Fiddlers’ Pavilion from 2:00-5:00 PM.
Adger has been playing violin (fiddle) since he was 6. Because of limited vision, he memorized music, learning music by ear fairly automatically. At age 9, he started to attend square and contra dances, quickly learning that music. Over the years, he has lived in many places, adding influences from many cultures. These include Scottish influence from his childhood home in Piedmonte N Carolina, New Jersay where he played for a Morris Dance team, Michigan, where he played really fast jigs for a Rapper Sword Team and 6 months in Wales, where he learned Welsh music.
Pianist Don Hughes has some 20 years’ experience accompanying fiddlers. Trained as a classical pianist, he continues to learn the classics one by one. A fellow musician describes him, “Don has a dancer’s feel for tempo and rhythmic emphasis.” He has composed waltzes which may be heard on Sept. 1st.
Members of the audience are invited to jam while Adger and Don take their break between 3:00 and 4:00pm.
The Museum will be open during the concert and may be visited at other times by appointment. The site includes the Museum and adjoining HOF and a detached Fiddlers Kitchen with pre-packaged refreshments available. The Pavilion, which can be enclosed in case of inclement weather, includes the Museum Store, the stage, dance floor, adjacent children’s play area, a brick patio with picnic tables, and a Flea Market.
Admission to the concert and to the Museum is FREE. There is FREE parking on the left side of the shared driveway. The site is SMOKE FREE, DRUG FREE, and PET FREE. The site is handicap-accessible.
