Riverhead, N.Y. - Hallockville Museum Farm on Sound Avenue in Riverhead invites the public to a free outdoor concert by Mr. Rooster, a “swingin’, rockin’ and sometimes bluegrassin’” band on Thursday, October 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. Folks are invited to bring their lawn chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy a farm sunset and good music in a family-friendly place, behind the newly-restored Naugles Barn at Hallockville. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside the barn.
On Saturday, October 4, Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead will offer a traditional soap-making workshop with historic cook and home skills expert, Diane Schwindt. Learn how a lard press was used to make soap, try out a mangling board and flat iron, then enjoy a sampling of hearty beef stew with bread. The workshop will be held from 1 – 3 p.m. Workshop registration fee is $40 for Hallockville members and $45 for non-members.
