Mumford, N.Y. - Genesee Country Village & Museum invites crowds to a rousing weekend of 19th-century baseball during the national Silber Ball Tournament, hosted at the living history museum’s reproduction 1800s ball field Friday, August 9, through Sunday, August 11. GCV&M boasts the nation's most comprehensive 19th-century baseball program, featuring games throughout the summer and culminating in the National Silver Ball Tournament.Vintage baseball teams don authentic woolen uniforms, wield double-knobbed bats, and play with brown balls in the country's first and finest replica 19th-century baseball park. Teams from around the East Coast will gather for a round-robin tournament, bringing the past to life in a spirited display of skill and sportsmanship. Friday, August 9: Kick off the tournament with games at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. Take photos with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. around the Museum grounds. Enjoy live music from Rochester-area rockabilly band Bec and the Bopcats from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and a chicken BBQ served out of the Depot Restaurant, as part of the Summer Sunset Concert Series. Saturday, August 10 & Sunday, August 11: Continue the excitement with tournament games throughout the weekend.
