A Child and Family Program at Staatsburgh State Historic Site

Staatsburg, N.Y. (1/13/25) — On Saturday, February 1 at 3:00p.m., Staatsburgh State Historic Site is collaborating with the Staatsburg Library for some pre-Groundhog Day shadow play! Featuring a reading from the picture book, Punxsutawney Phyllis, children will gain some knowledge about the natural science behind the groundhog’s weather forecast. The fun continues as they play with casting their own shadows and puppets from behind a lit screen to tell the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs.’ Appropriate for children ages 4 to 7. Staatsburgh State Historic Site is open for guided mansion tours Thursdays through Saturdays. Visitors may also enjoy a picnic or stroll by the Hudson River, or a hike along the woodland trails in adjacent Mills Memorial State Park.
