Saratoga Springs History MuseumThe final installment of a staged conversation series brings the visionary founder of Yaddo to life as the celebrated artist residency marks 100 years of welcoming artists.

Saratoga Springs, NY — The Saratoga Springs History Museum invites the community to step back in time and discover the remarkable life of one of Saratoga Springs' most influential women during “The Universality of Katrina Trask,” a special living history performance on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 7:00 to 8:30 PM, at the Museum inside the historic Canfield Casino in Congress Park.

As Yaddo marks 100 years since it began welcoming artists in 1926, this engaging program offers a unique opportunity to explore the life, passions, and enduring influence of Katrina Trask (1852–1922), the visionary philanthropist, poet, and cultural figure whose legacy continues to shape Saratoga Springs and the American arts community.

Best remembered as the founder of Yaddo, Katrina Trask's interests and ambitions extended far beyond the arts. Throughout her lifetime, she pursued a wide range of creative, philanthropic, and community-minded endeavors, leaving a lasting imprint on the cultural identity of Saratoga Springs.

“The Universality of Katrina Trask” brings these lesser-known aspects of her life into focus through an intimate staged conversation featuring Lezlie Dana portraying Katrina Trask and Rumara Jewett appearing as her friend and conversational companion.

Through thoughtful dialogue and storytelling, audiences will discover Trask's personal beliefs, creative pursuits, philanthropic interests, and hopes for the future of Saratoga Springs.

The November 5 performance marks the final installment in a series of staged conversations dedicated to exploring the many dimensions of Katrina Trask's life and legacy.

Rather than presenting history through a traditional lecture, the program invites attendees to experience the past through a personal and engaging theatrical format, making it accessible to longtime history enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The Saratoga Springs History Museum encourages residents, visitors, art lovers, and anyone interested in the remarkable individuals who shaped the city's history to attend this special evening.
