Hudson River MuseumYonkers, NY, March 3, 2025—Celebrate Women’s History Month at the Hudson River Museum this month with a variety of exciting programs and events! 

Join us at Free First Fridays: Immersive Ballet by MorDance on Friday, March 7, 5–8pm, with MorDance’s Echoes of Silence, an immersive ballet honoring the artistry of influential female singer-songwriters from the 60s and 70s that will be performed in the galleries. On Saturday, March 15, 1:30–3:30pm, Ebony Bolt will give an Artist Tour and Workshop on her piece Botanical Dreams in the Concrete Jungle, currently on view in Collection Spotlight: Cityscapes.

On Saturday, March 22, 2pm, immerse yourself in an original theatrical experience titled The 3 Dianas, an original theatrical experience performed by Sarah Lawrence students in the galleries. Last but not least, join award-winning journalist and news anchor Mary Calvi and author Allison Gilbert for Author Talk: The Joy of Connections by Dr. Ruth on Saturday, March 29, 3pm. They will discuss Gilbert’s new book, The Joy of Connections: 100 Ways to Beat Loneliness and Live a Happier and More Meaningful Life.

Curator Tour of Smoke in Our Hair Image
Join Sháńdíín Brown, curator of Smoke in Our Hair: Native Memory and Unsettled Time, for an in-depth tour of the exhibition. Brown will guide visitors through its three sections—wood, smoke, and fire—exploring how Indigenous perceptions of time are cyclical, relational, and unifying.

Morning Stroller Tour Image
Avoid the crowds and attend our monthly stroller-friendly tours before the Museum opens to the public. Designed for our youngest visitors (0–2 years) and their parents and caregivers, this special series explores the colorful, intriguing, and sometimes unusual works in our exhibitions, followed by an activity. Led by Sarah Provost, a storyteller, puppeteer, educator, and producer.

Artist Tour and Workshop with Ebony Bolt Image
Join artist Ebony Bolt in the galleries for a discussion of her mixed media work Botanical Dreams in the Concrete Jungle, currently on view in Collection Spotlight: Cityscapes. Learn about Bolt’s practice of sketching people on the NYC subway and transforming them into colorful, patterned artworks.

Immerse yourself in The 3 Dianas, an original theatrical experience inspired by works in It Takes 2: Unexpected Pairings, performed by Sarah Lawrence students in the galleries. This 40-minute performance is recommended for all ages.

Celebrate Women’s History Month with award-winning journalist and news anchor Mary Calvi and author Allison Gilbert as they discuss Gilbert’s new book, The Joy of Connections: 100 Ways to Beat Loneliness and Live a Happier and More Meaningful Life, co-authored by Gilbert with the late Dr. Ruth K. The Sky Tonight Image
Embark on a captivating tour of the night sky as seen from our area, featuring visible planets, bright stars, seasonal constellations, periodic comets, upcoming rocket launches, and more! Toward the end of March, the Parker Solar Probe will make another daring flyby of the Sun, coming within just seven million miles of its surface. Recommended for ages 8+; advance ticket purchase is encouraged.

The Hudson River Museum is a preeminent cultural institution in Westchester County and the New York metropolitan area. The Museum is situated on the banks of the Hudson River in Yonkers, New York, with a mission to engage, inspire, and connect diverse communities through the power of the arts, sciences, and history.

The HRM offers engaging experiences for every age and interest, with an ever-evolving collection of American art and dynamic exhibitions that range from notable nineteenth-century paintings to contemporary art installations. The campus, which recently expanded to include a West Wing with exhibition galleries and sweeping views of the Hudson River, features Glenview, an 1877 house on the National Register of Historic Places; a state-of-the-art planetarium; an environmental teaching gallery; and an outdoor amphitheater. The Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and interpreting these multidisciplinary offerings, which are complemented by an array of public programs that encourage creative expression, collaboration, and artistic and scientific discovery. The Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums (AAM), an honor awarded to only 3% of museums nationwide. 

Hours and Admission: The Hudson River Museum is open to the public Wednesday–Friday, from 12–5pm, and Saturday–Sunday, from 11am–5pm. On Free First Fridays, the Museum is open and free of charge on the first Friday of the month, from 5–8pm. Learn more and purchase tickets at hrm.org/visit.
