Jankiewicz Osgood WobusOsceola, N.Y. – Henry Jankiewicz will perform at the N. American Fiddlers Hall of Fame and Museum on Sunday August 18, from 2:00-5:00 pm. Jankiewicz will be joined by Curt Osgood and John Wobus at the Museum at 1121 Comins Road in Osceola NY

Henry started fiddling Old Time and Appalachian music. He soon added Celtic Fiddle, Bluegrass, and Jazz, learning to solo pre-swing jazz, blues, and ragtime music.  He has played in several festivals, as well as on Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion.” His song, “Einstein the Genius,” was chosen for the “Best of the Keepers” collection of songs most requested on Minnesota’s Public Radio. He and Hammer Dulcimer Champion Dan Duggan have appeared on NPR’s “Sez You.”

Locally, Henry  has been a member of the Cranberry Lake Jug Band, the Percolator Swing Band (traditional jazz), and the Lost Boys Bluegrass Band.  The Percolator Swing Band has been nominated for a SAMMY (Syracuse Music Award) and the Lost Boys received SAMMYs for Best Bluegrass/Folk Recording for “Black Dog” and for Best Folk/Bluegrass Band.  He, Tom Hodgson, and Duggan were also nominated for a SAMMY for their instrumental Folk CD, “Shenendoah Falls.” Henry is a member of Mark Hoffman’s “Swing This” Jazz Band.

Appearing with Jankiewicz will be Curt Osgood and John Wobus.  Curt has been playing hammered dulcimer for over thirty years.  He performs, teaches, leads workshops and has been an official jam session host for over 6 years. Curt, who also plays banjo and guitar, appears regularly with several contradance ensembles including Fancy That!, Strngs on the Wind, and Rosie’s Ready Mix. Wobus is in demand as a piano player for contradances and English Country Dances.  He accompanies Cape Breton and Quebecois fiddlers and fiddles himself. Bands he has played with include Contranella, Crooked Sixpence, and Fancy That!

Members of the audience are invited to bring their instruments and join in the jam during the Featured Performers’ break at 3:00 pm.
