Celebrating the final week of Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden
Rochester, NY (July 30, 2026) — The Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester (MAG) invites the community to a free, family-friendly Neighborhood of the Arts (NOTA) Block Party on Thursday, August 13, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. celebrating the final week of the major exhibition Determined to Be: The Sculpture of John Rhoden, which will be on view through Sunday, August 23.
Inspired by John Rhoden's dynamic sculptures which celebrate movement and the human form, the Block Party will transform MAG and its Centennial Sculpture Park into a lively afternoon of artmaking, performances, wellness activities, and hands-on experiences for visitors of all ages.
Guests are invited to explore the exhibition while enjoying sculpture-inspired art activities, guided tours, participatory movement workshops including Zumba and yoga, dance performances, live music, lawn games, food trucks, and a community wellness fair.
The celebration also highlights the creativity and collaboration of Rochester's Neighborhood of the Arts and surrounding community. More than 20 local organizations, artists, and community partners will participate, including Writers & Books, Garth Fagan Dance, Elevate & Satori, Endless Highways, Inc., the Rochester Wheels adult wheelchair basketball team, AutismUp, Foodlink, the Monroe County Library Association, the Mental Health Association of Rochester, Universal Kempo Club, Just TeeJay, Harold Taddy (The Gong Situation), the Grateful Line Danze Krew, G-Force Line Dance, MAG's Creative Workshop, the Mobile Library, and more.
