Astoria, New York, December 13, 2024 — With its Curators’ Choice: The First Batch currently underway, Museum of the Moving Image today announced the remaining titles in its annual survey of favorite films of the year featuring a diversity of great cinema—and television. The series will continue to run January 4–26 and includes 17 feature films and three works of television, many of which have been receiving great acclaim this awards season.
Guest appearances include Annie Baker with Janet Planet, Mohammad Rasoulof with The Seed of the Sacred Fig, RaMell Ross with Nickel Boys, Karren Karagulian with Anora, Aaron Schimberg with A Different Man, Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen with Somebody Somewhere, Ken Leung with Industry, Josh Kriegman with Couples Therapy, and filmmakers with Sugarcane.
In addition to films that have been receiving year-end awards recognition, such as All We Imagine as Light and Hard Truths, the Museum series features some of the year’s critical darlings, including Rosine Mbakam’s Mambar Pierrette, Radu Jude’s Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World, and Kleber Mendonça Filho’s Pictures of Ghosts. See the complete list below.
Please also note that guest appearances have been added to The First Batch: on December 27, Dune: Part Two (in 70mm) will be followed by a discussion with editor Joe Walker, and on December 28, Challengers will be followed by a discussion with writer Justin Kuritzkes.
