“Paw Prints on the Mountain” turns one woman’s birthday into a fundraiser for shelter pets
Warwick, N.Y. (Nov 19, 2025) - Mount Peter, New York’s Family Mountain now celebrating its 90th season, will host Paw Prints on the Mountain, a community tubing event to benefit the Warwick Valley Humane Society, on Saturday, December 6, from 1 to 3 p.m. Tickets are $39 for two hours of tubing, and a portion of proceeds will be donated to support local shelter animals. Guests who bring an item from the Humane Society’s wish list will receive a Mount Peter goodie bag as a thank-you. The afternoon will also feature music from a local DJ, games, prizes, and cupcakes, a fun party for a great cause. The Humane Society will be on-site with adoptable pets ready to meet guests.
The idea for the event came from Mount Peter’s Executive Director Amy Sampson Cutler, who wanted to celebrate her birthday by doing something meaningful. “At first, I thought this would be a fun way to celebrate while getting out of a big party,” Amy said. “But after losing Blue, our beloved rescue dog, I wanted to honor her in a way that helps other animals find the same kind of love. Not everyone can adopt a pet, but everyone can help in a small way — a donation, a bag of food, a clean bed. It all makes a difference.”
A former journalist who once covered animal shelters for the Times Herald-Record, Amy has long been an advocate for animal welfare. “For all of my years in this life, I’ve had a dog by my side,” she added. “They’ve been my constant companions and friends. This event is a way to celebrate them and to thank the people who dedicate their lives to caring for animals.”
“The support from Mount Peter means so much,” said Suzyn Barron, President of the Warwick Valley Humane Society. “Every can of food, every bag of treats for our dogs, cats and rabbits, every dollar helps us care for animals waiting for their forever homes. Events like this remind us how much our community cares and supports our organization's mission for our homeless pets for which we are truly grateful.”
Most-needed donations include canned cat food, pet beds, cleaning supplies, and paper products. A full list of requested items and links to the Humane Society’s Amazon and Chewy wish lists can be found here.
