Saratoga Springs, NY – The Saratoga Springs History Museum is proud to announce its 141st Annual Meeting, taking place on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00 PM in the historic Canfield Casino. The evening will feature a brief update on the State of the Museum, followed by a special presentation of the museum’s latest exhibit titled "Frank Leslie Buys Women’s Votes," presented by exhibit curator Nancy Brown.
This captivating presentation will delve into the life of Miriam Leslie, also known as Frank Leslie, a trailblazer in journalism who played a pivotal role in the women’s suffrage movement. The presentation will explore how Miriam inherited her husband's publishing empire and used her wealth and influence to champion the suffrage cause, including her landmark $2 million donation to suffrage leader Carrie Chapman Catt, which helped secure the passage of the 19th Amendment. Attendees will also learn about her personal and social transformation in Saratoga Springs, her rise to national prominence, and her lasting legacy.
