Behind The “Seams” Brunch: Saturday, November 2, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

View one of the finest collections of historic clothing and textiles in the United States and enjoy a delectable meal right in the GCV&M’s lovely Gallery lobby. Holiday Market & Preparing for Winter: Saturday, November 8 & Sunday, November 9, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

The perfect family activity to kick off the holiday season. Shop hand-crafted and locally-produced goods at our Holiday Market, featuring over 30 vendors selling everything from wine and tea to soaps and pottery. Then stroll through the Historic Village and see how Western New Yorkers prepared for winter in the 19th century by visiting with costumed interpreters in more than 20 buildings and hear from Indigenous storytellers Tonia Loran-Galban and Perry Ground. Preparing for Winter Homeschool Day: Friday, November 14, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

Join us for hands-on learning during “homeschool day” on November 14, featuring highly discounted rates for homeschool families, co-ops, and groups. Homeschoolers are invited to learn how the needs and duties of 19th-century New Yorkers changed as they got ready for winter. Discover traditional crafts, harvesting tasks, winterizing homes, and food preparations in the historic kitchens. Nature & Wildlife Art Symposium: Saturday, November 15, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 

The symposium will highlight how the evocative power of the world-class John L. Wehle wildlife and sporting art collection continues to captivate audiences and serve as a springboard for broader conversations about environmental stewardship, biodiversity, and the cultural significance of wildlife representation. This one-day symposium will spotlight three exciting speakers, including Dr. Keith Tidball (Assistant Director, Cornell Cooperative Extension), Marcus Rosten (WNY Wildway Director), and Katelyn Davis (Designer & Illustrator). Kiln Firing Day: Saturday, November 15, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. 

Genesee Country Village & Museum is the only living history museum in the northeast that fires salt-glazed stoneware in a wood-fired kiln as it was done in the 19th century. Guests who join us on Saturday, November 15, will have the chance to see this unique historical happening as part of their general admission ticket.

Livingston-Backus Dinner: Saturday, November 29, 5 – 7 p.m.
