Sky Flyer Zipline, Veterans’ Memorial Highway, Inline Skating Set to Open Summer Season
Lake Placid, N.Y. (May 15, 2025) – The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (Olympic Authority) is launching its summer and fall activities season with the opening of the Whiteface Veterans’ Memorial Highway on Friday, May 16. Additional early-season offerings include the Sky Flyer Zipline that opens on May 15, Discover Biathlon presented by Ariens at Mt Van Hoevenberg starting May 24 and the return of inline skating at the James C. Sheffield Speed Skating Oval on May 23.
The Summer 2025 Lake Placid Legacy Sites Passport will go on sale Monday, May 19, providing value and single admission access to experiences at all four Legacy Sites along with a 10 percent discount on shopping and dining at each location.

Whiteface Mountain (Wilmington)
- Scenic gondola rides, hiking, summit yoga, and disc golf
- Cloudsplitter Gondola opens daily from June 27 to Sept. 1; Friday through Sunday from September 5 through October 13

The Olympic Authority operates the Lake Placid Legacy Sites — the Olympic Center, the James C.
