Rock Hill, NY (April 17, 2024) -- The Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association, the Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce, and Platinum Leaf invite the public to a ribbon cutting celebration at Platinum Leaf, the first licensed adult-use cannabis dispensary in Sullivan County.
“It’s always special to support leaders in emerging industries in Sullivan County. I am happy to welcome Platinum Leaf, Sullivan County’s first licensed adult-use cannabis dispensary, to Rock Hill and wish them success in their endeavor,” said Assemblywoman Aileen Gunther.
Located in Rock Hill, Platinum Leaf is a regulated dispensary operating under the oversight of the New York State Office of Cannabis Management. Established in 2021, the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act has enabled the state to implement a comprehensive regulatory framework for both medical and adult-use cannabis.
“It is extremely difficult to start a small business in New York State and I applaud those who put in the work and persevere,” said Senator Peter Oberacker. “While many rogue operators have skirted the law and taken advantage of the failed rollout by the state’s cannabis regulators, the owners of Platinum Leaf have worked hard to do things the right way. Building our local economy and supporting our farmers are priorities I embrace, and I join with those in Sullivan County working to do the same.”
With 105 adult-use cannabis dispensaries currently operating across New York State, Platinum Leaf represents the first such licensed business in Sullivan County. The ribbon cutting event will take place on April 19th at 2 PM, offering the community an opportunity to tour the facility and learn more about the dispensary's products and services.
The Sullivan County Chamber of Commerce and the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association encourage the community to join them in celebrating this important milestone for the region. The opening of Platinum Leaf reflects the continued progress of the local cannabis industry and the growing consumer demand for safe, regulated access to these products.
"We're delighted to celebrate the opening of Platinum Leaf, a significant milestone for New York State and the Sullivan Catskills region," said Roberta Byron-Lockwood, President & CEO of the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association. "It’s wonderful to see this start to happen in our upstate rural communities."
