Product Packaging Color Match (Greens), March-May 2025, watercolor, gouache, and graphite on paper, 24 x 24Lake George, N.Y. - The Lake George Arts Project presents Readily Available: Paintings by Richard Garrison in the Courthouse Gallery through February 21st.

Richard Garrison’s paintings examine familiar yet easily overlooked elements within the contemporary American landscape. Each series of abstract drawings and watercolor paintings chart detailed observations of ordinary subjects such as advertisements, product packaging, online shopping, and suburban environments. Processes such as color matching, measuring, and photography are used to distill and transform the seemingly unremarkable minutiae of daily life. The allure in our everyday surroundings is revealed in his work through an intimate and systematic interpretation of color, space, and time.

An Albany native, Richard Garrison received his BS in Studio Art from the College of Saint Rose, Albany, NY in 1993 and a MFA from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY in 1995. His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally including Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Rochester, NY; The Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, Summit, NJ; Robert Henry Contemporary, Bushwick, NY; McKenzie Fine Art, NY, NY; Gallery Joe, Philadelphia, PA; the International Print Center, New York, NY; Casa Hofmann, Bogota, Columbia;  Kids Space @ Mass MoCA, North Adams, MA; and the Queens Museum of Art, NY; among others.

The Artist’s Reception will be held from 4:00 - 6:00 PM on Saturday, January 24th at the Courthouse Gallery.  The reception is open to the public and free of charge.  Garrison will speak about his work at 5:00 PM.
