Remsen-Steuben Historical SocietyRemsen, NY – The Remsen-Steuben Historical Society (R-SHS) is excited to be participating in the Mohawk Valley Gives Campaign on September 19, 2025. Our goal is to raise $50,000 to replace the roof on the Stone Meeting House. Built in 1831 by Welsh craftsmen, this building is on the National Register of Historic Places and houses our archives and historical collections.  The roof is 137 years old and in dire need of replacement.

“Last year, we were happy to have raised $6,800 toward the roof, but we have a long way to go,” said Lori Thompson, R-SHS Trustee.

Since 1975, the Remsen-Steuben Historical Society has been collecting, sharing and preserving our local history in ways that are both inclusive and sustainable. One of our goals is to share and promote our history through dinner theater productions, historical programs, and tours.    We also share history with others digitally through mediums such as social media and newsletters. Another goal of the Society is to record current historical events and preserve them for future generations.
