New York, NY (May 16, 2024) – In celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival, NYC's largest Chinese food festival Dragon Fest is delighted to host a special event at Astor Place on May 25, 2024. In addition to an array of traditional and contemporary Chinese snacks, Dragon Fest will also host a giveaway of 1,000 traditional rice dumplings and 10,000 bottles of flavored sparkling beverages from the sponsor Chi Forest.

The Dragon Boat Festival (Duanwu Festival), celebrated on the 5th day of the 5th month of the Chinese lunar calendar, is a time-honored tradition dating back over 2,000 years. One of the most iconic aspects of this festival is the consumption of rice dumplings (zongzi), which is why Dragon Fest is giving away 1000 of those to celebrate the holiday. Specifically, there will be three flavors for the giveaway: original, sweet red bean, and savory pork. Additionally, Chi Forest will delight the first 10,000 guests with a free beverage, showcasing their commitment to quality and taste.
On May 25, Dragon Fest will feature 50 vendors presenting over 150 varieties of Chinese snacks, making this the largest Dragon Fest event to date. There will be crispy pork and handmade glutinous rice cake from Haidilao, soup dumplings, dragon's beard candy, grilled cold noodles, iron plate tofu, fried skewers, and milk cap tea, among others. This special event at Astor Place is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in Chinese culture, enjoy traditional foods, and participate in the festivities of the Dragon Boat Festival right in the heart of New York City.
