Saratoga Springs, NY – The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation, along with Honorary Chair Larissa Hawley, will welcome spring with the 2025 Historic Homes Tour on Saturday, May 10th. This highly anticipated event held between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. offers the rare opportunity to see the interiors of private historic homes and buildings in the North Broadway neighborhood of Saratoga Springs.
Private residences on North Broadway, Carriage House Lane, Clinton Street, Van Dam Street, State Street and Woodlawn Avenue will be featured.
"Many of us admire the architecture of the beautiful historic homes of Saratoga Springs from afar but never have the opportunity to go inside. Each year, I'm excited to have the Foundation provide this opportunity for people to see different stunning interiors. The Foundation is grateful for the owners who graciously open their homes to benefit our mission to preserve our great community," said Samantha Bosshart, Executive Director.
For the fifth year, Green River Pictures, LLC will produce the virtual tour featuring three houses, two of which are included on the in-person tour.
In addition to the tour, the Foundation is hosting two educational programs at the Senator Edgar T. Brackett House at 605 North Broadway on Saturday, May 10th. The 9AM Breakfast & Buildings program is “A Walk Down Broadway in 1976.” Enjoy breakfast as Carol Godette explores this pivotal year in Saratoga Springs and the evolution of Broadway. From mom-and-pop stores to significant architectural changes, this program will offer a nostalgic and insightful look at the businesses and streetscapes that shaped Saratoga’s past.
Join City Historian Mary Ann Fitzgerald for the 12PM Lunch & Learn program “The Life and Times of Chauncey Olcott: Saratoga and Beyond.” Enjoy lunch while learning about the fascinating life and career of Chauncey Olcott, the renowned American stage actor, songwriter, and singer who once called Clinton Street home. Chauncey and his wife, Rita, were deeply involved in the Saratoga Springs community and embraced all the city had to offer.
“I’m excited that these programs will complement this year’s Historic Homes Tour as well as the Foundation’s ongoing education goals. Carol Godette’s presentation looks at Broadway in 1976, the year before the Foundation was founded, which was very different from Broadway today. Mary Ann Fitzgerald’s presentation highlights a famous former resident whose house on Clinton Street is still well preserved today and is in close proximity to the houses featured on the Tour,” said Preservation & Programs Coordinator Sydney Hedge.
The Historic Homes Tour is the Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser of the year and underwrites the Foundation’s mission to promote the preservation and enhancement of the architectural, cultural, and landscaped heritage of Saratoga Springs through educational programs, advocacy efforts, technical assistance, and restoration projects.
Historic Homes Tour tickets for the in-person and virtual tours are $40 for SSPF members and $50 for non-members. Tickets purchased on the day of the event are $55. Virtual tour tickets are $20 for SSPF members and $25 for non-members. Tickets for the Buildings & Breakfast and Lunch & Learn programs are $35 each and must be purchased in advance. Space is limited for these educational programs and tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, May 7.
