Mail Order Houses of SaratogaSaratoga Springs, NY - Explore “Mail Order Houses of Saratoga” with Madison C. Squires on Sunday, July 12 at 10:30AM. Long before Amazon Prime, there was the “Kit House” era—when one could flip through a catalog, send in a check, and have an entire house delivered to their lot by rail. A number of these houses remain along East and Pinewood avenues. Madison takes you on a tour of this fascinating chapter of architectural history, where homes arrived in crates, ready to be assembled like a giant puzzle. This tour, which meets at the NW corner of Lake and East avenues, is sponsored by Olde Bryan Inn.

The “Historic West Side” tour on Sunday, July 19 at 10:30AM explores the diverse historic West Side neighborhood where Saratoga Springs’ Irish and Italian immigrants and Black community lived. A neighborhood rich in history, George Demers will share about its architecture, residents, stores, and clubs as well as the impacts of Urban Renewal and revitalization efforts. This tour is sponsored by Olde Bryan Inn.

All Sunday morning tours begin at 10:30AM, last approximately 90 minutes, and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours are limited to thirty participants and tickets must be purchased in advance. The cost per tour is $15 for SSPF members and $20 for non-members.
