The LeewayFully Renovated Rooms Offer Modern Luxuries with a Cabin Feel, Surrounded by Nature

Kick-Off Campaign Features Free Third Night on Mid-Week Stays

Mt. Tremper, NY  (June 13, 2024) – Nestled in the picturesque Catskill Mountains, surrounded by an open meadow with the pleasant accompaniment of ripples from Esopus Creek reaching the rooms, sits The Leeway, The Catskills’ newest boutique luxury motel, which has just opened for its first full season. Hammocks and Adirondack chairs dot the scenic riverside property and contactless check-in and check-out offer ease of access to all visitors.

The Leeway is conveniently located near several sought-after towns, including Phoenicia, Woodstock, and Kingston, giving guests a plethora of dining, drinking, and shopping options. Just down the road from the beloved Phoenicia Diner, guests also have easy access to fresh produce, live music, breweries, and bakeries, as well as marquee events such as the Woodstock Film Festival, now celebrating its 25th year.

“It has been deeply rewarding to see our vision for The Leeway come to life. We were already a bit familiar with this beautiful property and its history, and when we heard there was an opportunity to transform it into something entirely new, we dove right in,” said Josh Reznick, co-owner of The Leeway.

The motel’s three buildings and six-acre riverfront property underwent a complete renovation with a highly specialized team at the helm, including interior design by Andrew Cohen of Field Study Studio and Joshua Pulver of sought-after architecture firm A+C as both architect and project manager, overseeing construction. Extensive millwork by Sam Moyer provided a warm feel to the rooms. Nurture Nature Designs added sustainable landscaping featuring plants native to the area, creating a beautiful walkway to the second and third buildings.

“We were drawn to the quiet, beautiful solitude of the property and its proximity to excellent local restaurants and shops. This is a perfect setting, and we are so grateful to the nearby communities for their warm welcome,” said Noah Nierenberg, co-owner of The Leeway.

The uninhibited access to Esopus Creek offers excellent fly fishing, swimming, and leisurely wading for guests. The extensive acreage also features a large fire pit and camping grills, along with an open meadow perfect for outdoor games. Complimentary yoga classes from local studios are offered on some weekends. A multitude of hiking options are nearby, including the Ashokan Rail Trail Boiceville Bridge Trail, Giant Ledge, and Overlook Mountain, where the entire Hudson Valley can be viewed from the cliffs.

With a wealth of hospitality expertise gleaned from her time at the former New York staple, The City Bakery, and boutique hotel Urban Cowboy, General Manager Tena Hasanefendic offers tailored recommendations for guests.

Several different room types are available to readily accommodate individual needs. All rooms are equipped with an eat-in kitchen, high-end appliances, high-speed Wi-Fi and a smart TV. The riverfront studios and loft duplex units include private terraces with meadow and river views. The one-and-a-half-bedroom features a gas fireplace and den with sleeper sofa, as well as a semi-private front porch. Well-designed floor plans maximize space throughout, with other offerings including one and two-bedroom units with semi-private front porches. All rooms are dog-friendly with a one-time $75 pet fee.

Each custom-designed room is furnished with bath products by Apotheke, linens from Brooklinen and Bed Threads, coffee from local roaster, HeavyFeather, and a Marshall Speaker. A portable cooler from RTIC, portable lanterns from Lander, and an outdoor blanket from Voited await each guest for complimentary use during their stay.

Novel touches can be found throughout the rooms, with a focus on handmade artisan products, resulting in a stylish high-end, simple elegance that eases the spirit. Photographs from famed rock-and-roll photographer Tom Gundelfinger O'Neal adorn the walls, featuring local scenes such as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young rehearsing ahead of Woodstock, as well as landscapes shot by Peter Crosby. Handpicked books are available for guests, with selections including literature on famous local cooks, rock music, and the surrounding wilderness, among others.

Finishes include custom carpeting by Tailor-Made Textiles, custom ceramic sconces by Dumais Made, gorgeous solid wood custom tables from What We Make, ethically handcrafted rugs from Pampa, original leather butterfly lounge chairs by BKF, award-winning ash and oak stools designed by deVOL, textiles from Eastern Classics, and dressers by Arhaus. The rooms are tied together with throw blankets from Schoolhouse and throw pillows by Citizenry.
