Saratoga Springs, NY – The Philadelphia Orchestra will return to SPAC for its annual residency this week, Wednesday, August 6, opening with the tradition of Tchaikovsky Spectacular, highlighted by the 1812 Overture with live cannon fire and a brilliant firework display. Internationally acclaimed conductor, Marin Alsop, returns to SPAC to lead the first three programs including Holst’s iconic The Planets (August 7) and an evening dedicated to Gershwin & Bernstein (August 8), and “Gen Z It-Girl” and GRAMMY Award-Winner, Laufey will bring her highly anticipated “Night at the Symphony” program (August 9).
The residency will continue with twelve unique programs through August 23. Visit spac.org for details.

Wednesday, August 6 @ 7:30PM: Tchaikovsky Spectacular

Conductor Marin Alsop returns to SPAC for the first time since 2017 leading the orchestra in a dazzling evening of Tchaikovsky featuring the 1812 Overture with live cannon fire and a brilliant fireworks display.

Thursday, August 7 @ 7:30PM: The Planets

Experience Holst’s The Planets, led by one of the foremost conductors of our time, Marin Alsop. The haunting and otherworldly orchestral suite, which takes audiences on a cosmic journey through each planet, has inspired generations of sci-fi film composers.
Friday, August 8 @ 7:30PM: Gershwin & Bernstein

with Clayton Stephenson, piano
Clayton Stephenson makes his SPAC debut with orchestra in Leonard Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story. The program is bookended by the music of another American icon, George Gershwin, combining traditional Cuban rhythms with Gershwin’s original themes.
Saturday, August 9 @ 7:30PM: Laufey with The Philadelphia Orchestra

with Laufey, vocalist
GRAMMY-winning jazz singer, composer, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Laufey returns to SPAC brining a spell-binding sonic journey performing alongside The Philadelphia Orchestra for her new “Night at the Symphony” program.
