Opening Ceremony on Friday, Aug. 21, 10 a.m.; Walls are on display in Crandall Park from Aug. 21-23

Glens Falls, N.Y. — The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall, a three-fifths scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., arrives in Glens Falls this week, bringing with it the 9/11 Memorial Wall.

This powerful tribute honors the more than 58,000 men and women who lost their lives in service during the Vietnam War, and provides an opportunity for remembrance, education, and healing. Alongside it, the 9/11 Memorial Wall honors the nearly 3,000 lives lost in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, offering visitors a place to reflect on that day as well.

The walls will make their way into Glens Falls via a procession from Lake George on Thursday, August 20, departing Lake George High School at 9 a.m. and traveling along Route 9 to arrive at Crandall Park in Glens Falls by 10 a.m.

An opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 21, featuring the Galloway Gaelic Pipes and Drums, a Color Guard procession, the National Anthem performed by Olivia Dybas, remarks from local and state officials, the Warren County Nurses Honor Guard remembering the eight women listed on the wall, and a 21-gun salute. The walls will then be open to the public around the clock through Sunday, August 23, with breakdown taking place Monday, August 24.

Throughout the display from August 21 to 23, visitors will be able to search for names of loved ones, reflect at the wall, and take part in ceremonies honoring veterans and Gold Star families.
