The Flower that Contains the SkyPlus: New Summer Hours at the The Lake George Arts Project, July 10 through August 11, 2024

Lake George, N.Y. – Cadence Giersbach’s exhibition of textured sculptures and fabric paintings, Through the Summer Garden, will be on view in the Courthouse Gallery of the Lake George Arts Project from July 10th through August 10th. The Artist’s Reception will be held on Saturday, July 13th from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, and the Gallery will be open on Sundays between noon and 4:00 PM during this exhibition.

Creating spiraling and undulating images and forms via the manipulation of color and texture, Giersbach’s work references the shapes and sensations encountered while gardening such as smooth stones, soft plants, rough earth, and flowing water.

She states that “With each piece, I strive to elicit visceral emotions that connect us to the earth and sky and inspire curiosity, empathy, and care.  The garden is a metaphor for life’s beauty, intensity, and fragility.”

The artist earned her BA from Vassar College and MFA from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.  She also attended the Skowhegan school of Painting and Sculpture in Maine and has shown in numerous exhibitions in New York City as well as internationally in Mexico, Denmark, and Germany.  She is a recipient of a Pollock-Krasner Foundation Fellowship among many other awards and has enjoyed national and international residencies and commissions. Her work is in the public collections of the Albright-Knox, Buffalo, NY, Harvard Business School, Boston, MA, and the RISD Museum, Providence, RI.

This exhibition is funded in part by the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York State Legislature, the Town and Village of Lake George, 518 Profiles, The Alfred Z Solomon Charitable Trust, Stewart’s Holiday Match, Walmart SparkGood, and LGAP members.
