Studio Instructor Presentations

Attend free, informal lectures by world-renowned Studio instructors. Hear instructors speak about their work in unstructured and highly informative sessions in The Studio Theater on Tuesday nights throughout summer class sessions.
This week features Jeremy Bert, Jen Elek, Kit Paulson, Tony Serviente, and Terri Sigler.
Artist-in-Residence Lecture | Alex Krueger
September 3, 2026 from 6 – 7 pm
Join us in The Studio Theater for Alex Krueger's Artist-in-Residence lecture where he will describe his work and residency project. Krueger is a Brooklyn-based glass artist whose practice explores glass as a fractured language, merging hot-sculpted parts, blow molds, and faux mosaic techniques to create layered, improvisational forms.
Krueger will use his residency to continue his exploration of new technologies—facial recognition, autonomous vehicles, and our closely held personal devices— embed systems of surveillance within their function that influence our behavior. Using The Studio’s array of glassmaking equipment, facilities, and its community of talented glass workers, he will further develop the scale and ambition of his practice.
This lecture is free and open to the public.
Artist-in-Residence Lecture | Jinya Zhao
September 3, 2026 from 6 – 7 pm
Join us in The Studio Theater for Jinya Zhao's Artist-in-Residence lecture. Zhao is currently a PhD candidate at the Royal College of Art in London, pursuing doctoral research that introduces the concept of "synaesthetic touch," proposing that blown glass can bridge visual, tactile, and spatial sensory experiences to deepen audience engagement. Her research also examines "layerspace"—the interplay between depth, structure, and spatial narratives—and "site," considering how environmental and cultural contexts influence the reception of glass works.
Her residency at The Studio provides Zhao with the opportunity to create a new body of blown glass work expanding on these concepts.
This lecture is free and open to the public.
Friday See and Sketch: Gallery Sketching with Hiram Cray

Join us this summer for sketching in the galleries!
Grab some paper and pencils and get ready to learn more about the practice of sketching with Hiram Cray. Cray is a professional artist and educator.
Learn how to capture glass on paper the amazing properties of glass or simply follow along and discover the Corning Museum of Glass through the eyes of an artist.
Participants of all ages are welcome, and the group will meet in the Admissions Lobby.
*Paper and pencils are provided. Free with admission.
Glassmaking Institute Information Session | September
September 5, 2026 from 12 – 1 pm
Interested in learning more about the Glassmaking Institute? Join us for one of our virtual information sessions!
The Glassmaking Institute is a two-year program that is the first of its kind in the US and is focused on skills-based learning. Students within the program will attend six studio classes per week, including flameworking, kiln forming, and cold working.
Applications will open July 1, 2026, and close October 30, 2026. Classes begin on Tuesday, September 7, 2027. These Zoom sessions will provide attendees with a chance to learn about the program and ask questions.
Applications are open to US and international students.
Free Admission for Active-Duty Military + Families - Blue Star Museums Program
The Museum is an active participant in the Blue Star Museums program, offering free Museum admission to all active-duty military and their families on Armed Forces Day through Labor Day. * As always, Museum admission is valid for two consecutive days.
*The Museum also offers a 15% discount to all active military and veterans all year long. During the month of November, the Museum celebrates veterans with free admission to all military veterans.
About the Corning Museum of Glass:
In 2026, the Corning Museum of Glass celebrates 75 years as the foremost authority on the art, history, and science of glass. It is home to the world’s most important collection of glass, including the finest examples of glassmaking spanning 3,500 years. Live glassblowing demonstrations (offered at the Museum and on the road) bring the material to life. Daily Make Your Own Glass experiences at the Museum enable visitors to create work in a state-of-the-art glassmaking studio. The campus in Corning includes The Studio, a year-round glassmaking school celebrating 30 years in 2026, and the Rakow Research Library, with the world’s preeminent collection of materials on the art and history of glass. Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country of New York State, the Museum is open daily 9 a.m.– 5 p.m. from April through December. Winter Hours (January–March) are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Monday – Tuesday, Thursday – Sunday (closed Wednesdays). Children and teens, 17 and under, receive free admission.
