Demonstrations are free with Museum admission, and kids and teens under 18 are always free!
Great Glass Pumpkin Experiment
Every Saturday, September 12 to October 31, 2026 from 10 – 11:30 am
Kick on the fall season with our annual Great Glass Pumpkin Experiment, a spooky and fun demonstration series where the Museum’s Hot Glass Team brings to life ghostly pumpkins to dazzlingly colorful ones, these one-of-a-kind glass pumpkins will take over the Amphitheater Hot Shop in a spectacular display of creativity and glassmaking skills!
Glass Pumpkin Demos
Daily from September 11 – October 30, 2026 at 3 pm
Ever wondered how you grow a glass pumpkin? Learn the step-by-step process of creating a glass pumpkin in this special, narrated demonstration, where each Hot Glass Team member's pumpkin has a unique personality that's all its own, making each demonstration a unique and exciting experience.
Make Your Own Glass Pumpkin
Pop over to The Studio and choose from one of our festive projects, including—you guessed it—pumpkins! Options for every age and skill level are available, but this experience is a seasonal favorite, so make sure you book early.
*Available for an additional fee. Reservations are recommended.

Made by our Museum glassmakers, the giant pumpkin is a whopping 97 inches (more than eight feet) in circumference and weighs in at 70 pounds.
The pumpkin was created in 2009 by the glassmakers who present the Museum’s live glassblowing demonstrations.
The pumpkin-making process took a team of eight glassblowers more than 50 hours of work, 17 attempts, a lot of shattered glass, and a number of lopsided prototypes.

Studio Livestream Demonstration | Susan Gott
September 9, 2026 from 11 am – 12 pm
Watch artist-instructor Susan Gott demonstrate her hot casting class at The Studio. Creating one-of-a-kind, cast glass sculptures that incorporate steel, copper, and stone. Gott has worked in the glass industry for more than 30 years. Her works embodies her interest in mythological symbolism and philosophies from ancient cultures that express the union of human beings and nature. Gott’s casting process uses individually prepared, hand-carved, and colored sand molds. She casts the work using molten glass directly from the furnace. The finished glass sculpture is then hand polished to reveal the interior, express her aesthetic, and contrast the ancient with the contemporary.

This week glassmaker Catherine Ayers will work with fellow Hot Glass Team members to create a witch's hat! You won't want to miss it!
About the Corning Museum of Glass:
In 2026, the Corning Museum of Glass celebrates 75 years as the foremost authority on the art, history, and science of glass. It is home to the world’s most important collection of glass, including the finest examples of glassmaking spanning 3,500 years. Live glassblowing demonstrations (offered at the Museum and on the road) bring the material to life. Daily Make Your Own Glass experiences at the Museum enable visitors to create work in a state-of-the-art glassmaking studio. The campus in Corning includes The Studio, a year-round glassmaking school celebrating 30 years in 2026, and the Rakow Research Library, with the world’s preeminent collection of materials on the art and history of glass. Located in the heart of the Finger Lakes Wine Country of New York State, the Museum is open daily 9 a.m.– 5 p.m. from April through December. Winter Hours (January–March) are 9 a.m.–5 p.m. on Monday – Tuesday, Thursday – Sunday (closed Wednesdays). Children and teens, 17 and under, receive free admission.
