The historic pool opens in time for Memorial Day and the Belmont Stakes
Saratoga Springs, NY – The Victoria Pool at Saratoga Spa State Park will open early this year on May 25, aligning with Memorial Day weekend and the 156th Belmont Stakes on June 8. Operating hours for the pool will be from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday until its daily opening on June 29. This is the earliest opening of the Victoria Pool since the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to the Victoria Pool opening, the park will expand its offerings to accommodate the influx of guests expected to visit Saratoga for the 2024 Belmont Stakes. Offerings include additional free mineral spring tasting and architectural tours, and free children's programming at the Creekside Classroom.
“Saratoga Spa State Park is eager to offer early access to park amenities, and an enhanced tour schedule, to encourage Belmont visitors to experience all that Saratoga has to offer, including the mineral waters that make Saratoga a world-class destination,” says Alane BallChinian, Regional Director for NYS Parks.
Since its establishment, the Victoria Pool has been known for its architectural and social scene. The pool complex, built in the Greco Roman Style, features original brick arches, a limestone deck and stone lion spouters. With over 50,000 visitors in 2023 the pool remains popular with locals and tourists alike. The pool has been frequented by celebrities including Dave Mathews, Sheryl Crowe, and members of the NYC Ballet. The pool offers amenities such as changing rooms with showers, a gift shop, and the 58 Roosevelt bar and grill.
“The Victoria Pool is a public pool like nowhere else,” says Alan Trepper, Manager of Saratoga Spa State Park. “Having a swim or lounging on the pool deck, you are transported back to another era. With its classic architecture, you feel the history and a sense of elegance surrounds you.”
Entry to the Victoria Pool is priced at $8.00 for adults, $4.00 for children, and $4.00 for seniors (ages 62+). For complete information regarding the Victoria Pool or additional park offerings, please visit https://parks.ny.gov/parks/saratogaspa or call the park office at 518-584-2535.
